I have researched (with loads of help) my family back to the Soham Hills family of William and Hannah and their son Joseph transported in 1834 to Australia. Apparently before he left he had a child with a woman called Sarah Jackson(Thomas & Ann abt 1814). Her and Joseph's son William was born around 1832 and Joseph was forced to pay maintenance until he was convicted presumably. Sarah stayed in Soham and remained unmarried and had another son Bailey baptised in 1839. By 1841 census Sarah and the two boys were in the workhouse at Newmarket and by 1851 William was living with Sarah's parents. Bailey and Sarah disappear but remerge by 1861. Bailey is a labourer and Sarah has married Francis Marriot a widower of Soham and had two more children to him Elijah and Ann. William has never resurfaced and I would love any information anyone might have on the Jackson family from East Fen Common, the boys Bailey and William Jackson and anything alse that might shed some more light on the story. thanks for taking the time to read

Hi John,
I am also related to the Hills & Caters, Derek's Grandmother was Jessie Cater and his Grandfather was George Hills, George was the Brother of my 2x Gt Grandfather Charles Hills, my Gt Grandmother was Mary Hills later to become Mrs George Jopson, their Daughter Florence Lily Jopson was my Grandmother, she later became Mrs William Webb, I met Derek a few years ago when we had a Hills reunion here in Soham, he has been very helpful in my research of the Hills.

My Hills tir-in is a bit further back, and I only have a couple of names. My line:
Thomas Isaacson, son of Thomas and Ann Hockley, married Ann Hazelwood 20 Dec 1786.  She was born, Feb 1760, to James and his wife Beatrice Hills.  Beatrice died May 1780 and was born around 1734 to William and his wife Mary Smith.  They were married October 1724.  William was born in 1698 and died Oct 1766.  He was born of John and his wife Margaret Taborham.  I don't have when John died, but he was born 1661 to William and his wife Beatrice Staples.  The location for all appears to be Soham.
I do not have names for any siblings for anyone prior to the Hazelwoods.  I can fill in a few more dates of the above people, but left them out for space.
Any connection here?  Dan Isaacson
