Me again - these four were sentenced to life or seven years transportation for stealing (as a gang). I'm keen to know anything about the families of the men transported with my g.grandfather x 4 or is it 5?
I gather my realtion was a bit of a bad boy - was he led astray or was he a leader?
Also my family over here was bought up to think we were very catholic, very irish and very hard done by with the transportation issue. I'm about to blow that out of the water - anyone who has any knowledge of the social norms in the East or Qua Fen areas circa 1800-1820 who could enlighten me would be very welcome. I wish I had known this stuff last year when we visited England, just goes to show how much trouble distorted family history causes.  thanks for reading anmd hopefully replying  Fiona Hills

I'm related to 5 members of the 'Soham Gang.'  (Attleseys and Isaacsons)  I've got a couple tidbits from newsprint and a copy of several pages from a book that covers the subject.  If memory serves, 19 or 22 men were sentenced as part of this gang.  Several received time in Australia.  Dan Isaacson
