I've lived in Soham for almost two years and have gained permission from a couple of landowners/farmers to search for relics with my metal detector on their property.  I belong to the Mildenhall and District Metal Detecting Club which meets the first tuesday each month, and always take my finds in to the Suffolk County Finds Liaison Officer (FLO) for proper identification, recording and reporting under The Treasure Act.  I'm insured through the National Council for Metal Detecting.  I've found one broken Viking buckle, a couple of Saxon relics, several Roman coins and brooches, and a variety of coins, buckles, buttons and badges from the Middle Ages to present day.  I'm always looking for a place to metal detect, especially now that crops are on the fields, so if you have a place for me to go, please let me know.
