Well here we go again. Yet another old valued building is to be lost to the Developer, The Church Hall in the High Street is up for Sale no doubt to make way for more Housing, it is a great shame that the Hall can't be refurbished and continue to be used by the Towns People as it always has done, this Hall was built by fund raising that started in the early 1900's, it was finally opened in 1928, and when you stop and think for a moment it was a great achievement by our Soham Ancestors, as many of them gave or helped in fund raising for this cause, when many of them themselves did not have a lot to spare. The Hall has served many of us over the years as I am sure many of you will have fond memories of. One positive thing is that some of our Council Members have also seen the value of the Hall and have voiced their opnions in the press. Soham does need a Community Hall and what better place than the Church Hall, it is understandable from the Churches point of view of the cost involved in maintaining and repairing the Hall, but I don't see why we should loose a valuable asset to the bulldozer, What do you think.
